Why a Freestanding Kitchen?

Believe or not, a thing called a worthwhile kitchen definitely exists. What kind of a ‘worthwhile’ kitchen we are looking for? The one that isn’t to be remodeled repeatedly? The one that flexibly matches your lifestyle? If yes, I’m going to introduce you the freestanding kitchen. What is a freestanding kitchen? Will it be our final answer? Please take a seat. I’ll start its tale.

Previously, we talked about a style of kitchen that would fit in with our houses located in tropical climate – a combination of extremely hot season and wet season. That kitchen style is called ‘Thai tropical kitchen’. In addition to climates and cooking cultures, types of food also serve a role in making local kitchens look different. We have learned that western-style kitchens don’t go well with Thai lifestyles much. It isn’t our final answer yet.

A kitchen isn’t just a cooking room. Let me repeat that “kitchen is the heart of the home”, where makes both of our stomach and heart full of happiness. So, design and decoration for kitchens should be delicate, nice, and functional. However, please keep in mind that a kitchen needs to serve its users.

Any construction, extension, and shopping – for furniture and appliances – are considered as an investment, whether in time or effort. To make a worthwhile and long-term investment, we need to be careful to make the right decision. Money, of course, is an important factor for this decision. Hence, ‘low cost, high quality’ product is what people are looking for.

‘Low Cost, High Quality’ Exists!

Please take a moment to consider the word low-cost I mentioned here. We aren’t talking about a kitchen that firstly costs you a low budget, but later charges you extrain the long run, especially for repairs. To make it clearer, I’d better say we are looking for a cost-effective kitchen. Nobody refused to have a longer-lasting experience of a pretty and practical kitchen.

When asked to think about your dream kitchen, there definitely are built-in cabinets, permanently installed ovens, and well-organized storages. A built-in kitchen is perfectly designed and planned to utilize the given space. However, in the 5 or 10 years later, it would become a ‘tough’ project if you want to renovate or remodel your fitted kitchen. Either it is oldfashionedor too worn-out to repair, renovation is waiting for the aging kitchen.

Nowadays, we have been familiar to built-in kitchens. Kitchens with fitted furniture weren’t originally Thai-style design. Traveling back to 20 years ago, built-in kitchens were very new to Thais. They became a common style in a short time, though. A built-in kitchen becomes a must for every house. Even though kitchen styles vary now, Thai cooking culture hasn’t changed at All.

There is a kitchen style which is highly flexible to any spaces and uses. We, indeed, have seen this kitchen style frequently, but haven’t realized its advantages yet. Yes, the flexible kitchen style we’retalking to is the freestanding kitchen. No mounting or attachment, either on wall or floor, required. Move freely if desired.

Why a Freestanding Kitchen?

I left a trail of a wise investment in our last article. Now, follow my words and gradually draw a picture in your head. Let’s imagine if you have a kitchen that perfectly fits the given space, and can be moved easily when you are bored or want to change your cooking corner without any renovation requested. No a waste of time and money mentioned here. And its durability also lasts longer than expected. It may be introduced to your children many years later. Lastly, freestanding kitchens won’t spoil your house because it is modern and well-designed, like you.

Built-in Kitchen? That’s No-No! Western Kitchen? IMPOSSIBLE!

“Come over here!” “Move over there!” Sorry, I’m not talking about a tag game, but a
freestanding kitchen. Being movable and adaptable is the main outstanding advantage of a freestanding kitchen. Although your kitchen has a small or limited space, such as a studio apartment where its living room and kitchen are partially combined, a freestanding kitchen will be a useful organizer who helps you rearrange or reshuffle your kitchen space effectively. Space management is way easier with helps from a freestanding kitchen.

You aren’t even bored of it yet when your kitchen becomes old, shabby, faded or outdated. What to do with our poor kitchen? Renovation? Yes, but it isn’t the one way out. We can remove old stuffs and replace them with new ones. Keep what is necessary. Get rid of what isn’t. It is a piece of cake!

Freestanding kitchens aren’t only a functional indoor kitchen, but perfectly remain their functions when they are placed outdoor. We’ve talked about this earlier that Thai cooking culture requires more than one kitchen in a house. Four kitchens in one house is possible! Every meal is important, hence having a flexible and functional kitchen that can fulfill our needs is a top priority when you dream of a perfect house.

Let your creativity work for you. Freestanding kitchens aren’t fitted or fixed. There are no certain rules. No Do’s and Don’ts. Everything depends on your creativity. You can design your space freely, maybe you don’t even need an interior’s hand. It sounds cliché to say that you can just mix and match what you already have. But it works. Time passes, styles remain. So, why always new? When the uniqueness of an old prep table never fades, ora grandma’s vintage cupboard still looks cool in your age. This vintage furniture would recall your old sweet memories and also create a contemporary country atmosphere. This kitchen will define your style. Proud to be you!

However, don’t jump to conclusions that the freestanding kitchen style is the best. Preferences and usage purposes are individual. I’m here to offer you helps. If you are searching for the best solutions or coolest ideas for your kitchen, hope my suggestions are helpful enough. Despite your answer is, I’m certainly sure that you will make the right decision for you and your beloved family as always. What a beautiful ending! Let’s meet again in our next article.
